Works as it should.
I sit it right next to the pan when cooking, I have to have it on high for it to work enough to pull the steam amd smoke into it.
Overall I am happy with it. I have noticed a reduced amount of grease film in my kitchen and it definitely helps with smell.
I own an airhood which I assume this is kind of ripping off? It's much cheaper - like $60 less - so I get it won't be the same. But this one is not totally portable - it does have a cord so it's a bit more limiting. I think the power is about the same - it's good - it's not magical, but what I do is use this, my air hood, and my pathetic recirculating microwave / range hood combo to try and keep the grease from permeating my kitchen. I like that this one comes with grease paper which the airhood didn't - although that means you have to buy replacement grease filters but I feel like it does a better job capturing the grease.
This portable range hood has made a big difference in my small, older apartment, which has no built-in ventilation. Cooking odors used to linger forever, and a thin layer of grease would settle on everything in the kitchen. I had been considering the more expensive brand-name models for a while but couldnât justify the cost, so I decided to try this one instead and Iâm really glad I did.
While itâs not exactly small, itâs also not so bulky that it gets in the way while Iâm cooking. It comes with two different filters: one for grease and smoke, and one for odors. They both work well, but unfortunately, you can only use one at a time. I wish there were a single filter that handled both because thatâs really what I need. I chose the grease and smoke filter, which does a great job.
Itâs surprisingly powerful. Even on low, it effectively pulls in steam, smoke, and grease from about 18 inches away. You can actually see it working. Itâs also quieter than I expected. On high, it sounds like a larger fan, but nothing too extreme.
Overall, this vent fan is a solid buy for the price. My only real complaint is having to choose between the two filters.
